Security Risk Management
RedSeal
Systems
Security Risk Management (SRM) is synonymous with proactive security. Until recently SRM has been thought of as a practice for which resource constrained IT environments simply had no time. This needn’t be the case. RedSeal Systems has created an automated SRM solution which provides excellent tools to manage enterprise security and networking infrastructure as a whole and measure the effectiveness of the security posture. It installs in minutes, is intuitive to use and yields actionable information within hours of installation.
SRM technologies in the past have not been viable solutions for many companies because they have required the costly deployment of VA scanners in every part of the network. In order to address the challenge of holistic network security risk management which can benefit any organization regardless of installed technology, RedSeal Systems Engineering set out to build an application that can visualize and measure risk with or without vulnerability assessment scanners in place. The result is the RedSeal SRM 3000.
RedSeal gives enterprises of any size a never before seen view of their infrastructure – a visualization of risk exposure and concise guidance on where and when to remediate. The SRM 3000 helps enterprises of all sizes stay ahead of security risk by providing:
- A unified view of the network topology and filtering policies
- A thorough audit of the configurations of firewalls and other filtering devices
- A precise map of security risk exposure based upon network access and system vulnerabilities
- Guidance on how to proactively mitigate any security problems
- Detailed reports on the risk scores and trends for hosts, servers, subnets, key assets
[DETAILS]
At the core of RedSeal's SRM 3000 is a powerful engine which can sit anywhere in the network. Based on an open framework, it is designed for heterogeneous networks, allowing it to be easily adapted to almost any customer environment regardless of installed technology. It automatically collects configuration and server data from firewalls, routers, VA scanners and patching systems and uses this information to build a comprehensive network model which shows network interconnectivity, traffic flows, attack paths, and those areas most at risk. All of this is accomplished within minutes to an hour. Most importantly, the results of the risk analysis are obtained on-demand and ahead of a security event or breach, allowing IT administrators to truly manage the security posture proactively.
The SRM 3000 has an Adaptive Risk Analysis (ARA) engine that models and analyzes the configurations of complex networks and hosts, clearly identifying risk “hot spots.” Displaying the ARA engine’s modeling and analysis is RedSeal’s unique RiskMap visual layout, designed with functional roles in mind, allowing users to quickly locate their network areas and key business assets that are the targets of threats and get precise guidance on the best places to eliminate exposure. The risk metrics and remediation information from RedSeal can be used daily to maintain security at optimal levels, while the system’s reporting and auditing capabilities allow for tracking security efficiency, thereby helping guide compliance efforts and future technology investment.
The RedSeal Security Risk Management solution provides unified and measurable insight to network security and its effectiveness, reduces workload, measures security and business risks, pinpoints threats and exposures, and provides compliance reports. It also it tracks the security posture of the network over time, providing a thorough audit trail of security performance. We feel it is an invaluable tool for automating the daily challenge of maintaining network security at optimal levels.
